CUNI2 copper-nickel weldable resistance alloy represents a critical turning point in the transition from pure copper to high-resistance alloys. By introducing approximately 2% nickel atoms into the copper matrix, it achieves a precise jump in resistivity through lattice distortion effects while maintaining excellent metallic continuity. In metal physics, resistance originates from the scattering of electron flow as it passes through the crystal lattice. CuNi2, by precisely controlling the 2% nickel content, artificially creates uniformly distributed scattering centers while maintaining efficient electron transport. The temperature coefficient of resistance of CuNi2 is at a moderate level. This means that its resistance value increases slightly with increasing temperature. This characteristic is extremely valuable in certain "self-compensating" circuits, where the slight increase in resistance can provide a degree of current-limiting protection when the circuit overheats.
